Metsa 7 Hotel
Metsa 7 is an exceptional hotel. It offers everything needed for an active getaway in the heart of Estonia’s pristine natural landscape. The existing shooting range at Metsa 7, together with its surrounding area, holds tremendous untapped potential. As architects, we have the opportunity to uncover that potential and bring it to life in collaboration with the client and the wider design team. Our vision is to transform the current single-purpose building into a vibrant hub of diverse functions and people.
https://metsa7.com/The architecture of Metsa 7 has also evolved through a series of interconnected nodes. It is the result of an ongoing process in which the surrounding nature, the existing shooting range, the local community, and the broader context continuously influence one another. The hotel volume rises just above the treetops, overlooking the Intsikurmu forest park from the edge of a steep slope. The vertical rhythm of the façade is inspired by the surrounding forest, while the zigzag walls—distinctive elements that already characterize the existing building—express the untamed nature of the landscape. The decision to incorporate red perforated brick into the material palette was likewise inspired by the existing shooting range.
Sport and food culture are often undervalued, while good health is too easily taken for granted. At Metsa 7, these are placed at the forefront and expressed through the range of activities, the overall atmosphere, and the spaces themselves. This vision is reflected in the Spordi 7 entrance on the Metsa Street side.
The architecture and the spaces surrounding the visitor are conceived as a source of care and support. As architects, our goal is to create the feeling that the building is a companion on one's journey—one that tells compelling stories and leads to unforgettable experiences.
The true charm of Metsa 7 lies in its many journeys. From the hotel room to the shooting range, from the bookshop to the wine cellar, from the sports equipment rental to the soup pavilion, and from the fitness facilities to the rooftop restaurant, every route offers a new experience. The interaction between hotel guests and local visitors has been carefully considered, with a thoughtful balance between the building’s more public and more private areas. Everyone who enters Metsa 7 should feel welcome and at ease. Our ambition is to create architecture that inspires discovery and always invites you to return.
